Mykonos wrap is a lace weight, rectangular wrap for those warm, summer evenings when you need just a little something to keep the chill away. You can wear it draped around your shoulders or wrapped numerous ways as a scarf to add color and fun to your outfit. This wrap was inspired by my sister’s recent trip to the Aegean coast. The colors and design are inspired by the jewel toned, turquoise waters and quaint fishing villages with their fishing nets on display.

Mykonos Wrap features sections of brightly colored garter stitch bands alternating with larger sections of lace, which is knit in a second color. Don’t let the lace sections put you off, though.  It is a very simple lace stitch that even a beginner can handle. The combination of lace and bold garter stripes bring to mind images of relaxing, balmy summer evenings. This is fun and easy to knit and a staple for your summer wardrobe.

The Designer: Laura is a native Floridian who now resides in a small town in Maine with her husband and four boys. Although she may complain of the cold from time to time, she is very grateful to wear her knitted items most of the year. She was taught to knit by her mother-in-law after her first son was born 13+ years ago. She was quite slow at first and didn’t become an avid knitter until she discovered Ravelry a few years ago. Now she is obsessed and there is no turning back. Recently, she has become interested in creating her own knitwear and has started to dabble in the design process.  You can find her at www.LauraReinbach.com.
